FIBA has lifted the suspension on the British Basketball Federation (BBF) on November 7, allowing the men's national team to participate in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers. However, BBF remains unable to license domestic competitions. FIBA reached an agreement with Super League Basketball (SLB) to oversee domestic competitions. The sport faces governance crises, with ongoing legal battles with former employees and clubs, involving millions of pounds. UK Sport and Sport England will provide £4.4m (€5mm) in grants over four years. SLB has also been officially recognised by FIBA.

Qatar launched the School Mini World Cup, a tournament for secondary schools, as part of a strategic plan connected to the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, under the supervision of FIBA, in collaboration with the Qatar Basketball Federation and the Qatar School Sports Association. The initiative aims to promote active lifestyles and community participation. The competition is linked to the Qatar Olympic School Program and includes education on basketball history, volunteer work, and event organization. The tournament's first phase runs from November to March, followed by knockout rounds in April and the final in May. The second season will see schools represent nations in the 2027 World Cup.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has partnered with China Mobile's Migu Company to be its exclusive digital rights partner in China for four years (2025-2029). This agreement will stream all international FIBA competitions, including the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Germany and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 in Qatar, on Migu’s platform to expand basketball’s presence and fan base in China. Migu’s platform already includes the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and other top international competitions.

Soraya Mohamed, known as the "Queen of Egypt", is leading FIBA 3x3's rise in Africa. She aims to qualify Egypt for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and inspire women in sports. Uneven revenue distribution among clubs, with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona exceeding €45 million budgets, contrasts with debates over EuroLeague costs for clubs like Virtus Bologna and Valencia Basket.
