Manila is set to host the inaugural Southeast Asian Plus Youth Games (SEA Plus YG) in 2027 or 2028, as announced by the Olympic Council of Asia (424). The multisport event, designed for athletes aged 17 and under, aims to develop grassroots athletes and prepare them for the Asian Youth Games (AYG) and Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Nine Southeast Asian NOCs have already pledged their support. The Philippines also plans to host the Asian Beach Games in 2028 and volleyball's flagship event in 2029, following the successful hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship 2025 (157).
