Manila is set to host the inaugural Southeast Asian Plus Youth Games (SEA Plus YG) in 2027 or 2028, as announced by the Olympic Council of Asia (424). The multisport event, designed for athletes aged 17 and under, aims to develop grassroots athletes and prepare them for the Asian Youth Games (AYG) and Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Nine Southeast Asian NOCs have already pledged their support. The Philippines also plans to host the Asian Beach Games in 2028 and volleyball's flagship event in 2029, following the successful hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship 2025 (157).

The Philippines will host the Men’s Volleyball World Championship in 2025, marking a strategic move to enhance sports tourism and solidify its role in regional sports diplomacy. Organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation and supported by the FIVB’s “Volleyball Empowerment” program, the event aims to boost the sport's development, improve infrastructure, and promote the country as a venue for major sporting events. The tournament, featuring a new 32-team format, is expected to generate substantial revenue and strengthen the Philippines' position within the Olympic Council of Asia.

India and Qatar are competing to host the 2036 Summer Olympics. Qatar emphasizes its existing infrastructure and experience hosting major events, while India proposes building a new Olympic Enclave in Ahmedabad. Other countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Hungary, and Germany are also in contention, but India and Qatar are considered front-runners. The IOC has concerns about governance, doping, and medal record in India, while Qatar faces criticism over human rights issues.
