Qatar has announced Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani as the leaders of its 2036 Olympic bid committee. Sheikh Joaan, chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and vice-chairman of the Association of National Olympic Committees, will lead the effort, leveraging his experience and network. Sheikha Hind, with her focus on education and women in sports, will serve as vice-president. The bid emphasizes Qatar's experience hosting major sporting events and its commitment to sustainability. The Qatari leaders expect to meet IOC representatives next month, following India's meeting in early July. The IOC president is Kirsty Coventry.

The FIVB and the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) met to discuss expanding volleyball in Qatar, reinforcing collaboration in line with the FIVB’s Strategic Vision 2032. The QOC Secretary-General also met with FIBA and United World Wrestling (UWW) leaders to discuss collaboration. Qatar will host a major triathlon event from 2025 as part of its sports expansion strategy.
