Recent events hosted in Varese include the 2021 European Rowing Championships, the 2022 World Cup II, the 2023 World Under-19 and Under-23 Championships, and the 2024 World Cup I. The 2025 World Rowing Championships will be held in Shanghai, China.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and World Rowing extended their media rights agreement, initially signed in 1980, until 2032. The agreement includes major rowing events and beach sprint rowing, set to debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Thirteen EBU members, including HRT (Croatia), CT (Czech Republic), ARD/ZDF (Germany), ERT (Greece), RTÉ (Ireland), RAI (Italy), NOS (Netherlands), TVP (Poland), TVR (Romania), RTVE (Spain), SRG (Switzerland) and Suspilne Ukraine (Ukraine), are part of the renewed agreement, with six committed to covering events until 2032.
