The LA City Council approved relocating the canoe slalom events for the 2028 Olympic Games (LA28) to Oklahoma City's Whitewater Center, a premier venue. This decision aligns with LA28's focus on sustainability and leveraging existing facilities. Oklahoma City will host both canoe slalom and softball in 2028. The city will also host the 2025 WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals, a 2025 ICF Canoe Slalom World Ranking Race, and the 2026 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. ICF President Thomas Konietzko and other ICF leaders visited Oklahoma City, receiving the Key to the City from Mayor David Holt. Canoe sprint events will remain in Long Beach.
