Qasim Hasan Abdulhussein Al-Lami, an Iraqi weightlifter, has been banned for seven years by the International Testing Agency (ITA) for his second Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV). The violation occurred on October 30, 2024, when a sample revealed the presence of stanozolol metabolites. Stanozolol is a prohibited anabolic steroid. This is Al-Lami's second doping offense; he previously received a four-year ban from 2017 to 2021 for furosemide and testosterone. The ITA proposed a sanction up to eight years, but Al-Lami accepted the consequences, leading to a reduced seven-year ban from December 9, 2024, to December 8, 2031, due to an early admission. All results from October 30, 2024, to December 9, 2024, have been disqualified.

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has banned multiple athletes and officials from the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) for doping violations. The decision follows an investigation into missed tests and positive doping cases. Officials face a four-year ban from all sports-related activities. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has finalized the weightlifting categories for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, with 6 categories per gender.
