Over 200 refugee children and young athletes participated in the 2026 Hope and Dreams Sports Festival in Kigali, Rwanda, marking the 10th anniversary of the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation. The event, held in partnership with World Taekwondo, featured taekwondo competitions alongside cultural and social activities, fostering confidence, friendship, and resilience. Supported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Rwanda’s Ministry in Charge of Refugees, the festival aims to promote athletic development, life skills, and social inclusion, with plans for an even larger event in 2027 and another in Amman, Jordan in April 2026.

The European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Prishtina, Kosovo, concluded with Türkiye leading the medal count, followed by Italy and Spain. Several athletes who medaled at the recent World Taekwondo Under-21 Championships in Kenya also achieved success, including Elsa Secanell Charles (Spain) and Styliani Marentaki (Greece). Notable upsets occurred in the men's -63 kg category, where Italy's Ludovico Iurlaro defeated the reigning World champion. The tournament showcased rising talent across Europe and featured participation from Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN).

The Philippines will host the Men’s Volleyball World Championship in 2025, marking a strategic move to enhance sports tourism and solidify its role in regional sports diplomacy. Organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation and supported by the FIVB’s “Volleyball Empowerment” program, the event aims to boost the sport's development, improve infrastructure, and promote the country as a venue for major sporting events. The tournament, featuring a new 32-team format, is expected to generate substantial revenue and strengthen the Philippines' position within the Olympic Council of Asia.

At the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, Taekwondo showcased emerging talent from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Ukraine, challenging the dominance of Korea and China. Chinese Taipei and Korea led in poomsae, while individual kyorugi events saw victories for athletes from Brazil, Canada, Thailand, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Turkey. Uzbekistan made history by winning the first-ever Mixed Team Kyorugi gold. Para Taekwondo will debut at the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games, increasing medal events from 24 to 38.

At the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, Republic of Korea and China dominated the taekwondo kyorugi events. On Saturday, Yunseo Kim (Republic of Korea) won gold in the women's -46 kg category, while Maria Clara Lima Pacheco (Brazil) triumphed in the women's -57 kg. Bunlung Tubtimdang (Thailand) secured gold in the men's -68 kg category, and Nithan Brindamohan (Canada) won the men's -54 kg category. On Sunday, Jingyue Ma (China) won the women's -49 kg, Jiani Xing (China) won the women's -67 kg category, Maksym Manenkov (Ukraine) won the men's -58 kg, and Geonwoo Seo (Republic of Korea) won the men's -80 kg category.
