The French Ski Federation has provisionally suspended Joël Chenal, a former Olympic medalist and national coach, following multiple allegations of sexual harassment involving minors between 2005 and 2021. The suspension follows a report in Le Monde detailing accusations from 12 women. Chenal denies the allegations and is also subject to a formal complaint for sexual assault. The federation intends to participate in legal proceedings and has acknowledged shortcomings in past investigations in 2009 and 2015, which allowed Chenal to continue coaching until 2017. Michel Vion, secretary-general of the International Ski Federation, has taken responsibility for past failures. The French Ski Federation has since asserted that it has strengthened safeguarding protocols.
