The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has voted to lift the suspension on Russia and Belarus, potentially allowing their athletes to compete under their flags at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games. This decision, pending approval by individual international federations, has sparked debate. Astrit Hasani, president of the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), has also called for an end to the 'Individual Neutral Athlete' (AIN) status, advocating that athletes should not be penalized for their governments' actions.
