Maja Petkovic was appointed as the Association of National Olympic Committees' (ANOC) representative to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Safe Sport Core Group. Petkovic, a certified IOC safeguarding officer since April 2024, will represent the concerns of all 206 NOCs. ANOC is establishing a communication channel between Petkovic and all NOCs, inviting each to designate a Safe Sport point of contact. The IOC Core Group aims to develop strategies to prevent harassment and abuse in sports. The Olympism365 Summit in Lausanne addressed these issues, launching tools to combat violence and enhance athlete safeguarding, including AI-powered cyber-abuse prevention for Milano Cortina 2026 and partnerships with the UN Spotlight Initiative, FIFA, and the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. The IOC also plans feasibility studies for Regional Safe Sport Hubs in Africa and the Pacific and train-the-trainer programs by 2026.
