The International Olympic Committee (IOC) unveiled a series of athlete safety and wellbeing initiatives at the Olympism365 Summit in Lausanne, including resources, training, and technologies to combat violence and abuse. Led by Prince Faisal Al Hussein, the initiative emphasizes mental health and digital protection, including AI-driven tools from Paris 2024 to be used at Milano Cortina 2026 to filter online abuse. Collaborations with the UN's Spotlight Initiative and FIFA, along with programs like the Safe Sport Regional Centres Initiative, aim to enhance athlete support globally and locally. A new International Task Force on Safe Sport and courses to train protection officers and promote mental health awareness are also being launched.

IOC President-elect Kirsty Coventry visited Namibia, attending the ANOCA Continental Athletes' Forum and meeting President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. At the 144th IOC Session in Greece, Thomas Bach was unanimously elected Honorary President for Life of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The proposal, made by Nicole Hoevertsz on behalf of the IOC Executive Board, was met with a standing ovation. Bach's term as IOC President will conclude after June 23, 2025, following 12 years in office since his election in 2013. The session highlighted Bach's successful implementation of Olympic Agenda reforms and his leadership in modernizing the Olympic Movement. IOC members praised Bach's commitment to athletes, gender equality, sustainability, and navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
